Northwestern Mutual iPhone App

After LearnVest was acquired by Northwestern Mutual, one of the first initiatives was to create the NMโ€™s first mobile app. The goal of the app is to be โ€œthe center of a clientโ€™s financial life.โ€ The product allows the client to check their insurance policies and track their daily banking transactions, investments, and retirement plans.

A MAP FOR MOBILE

Determining what's essential for mobile

Working from the proposed site map for the desktop website, I collaborated with the mobile product manager to create a high-level app map for the mobile MVP.

BUSINESS GOALS FIRST

Making it easy to gather customer data

Based on business requirements, the primary goal for the app was to allow users to view all of their accounts in one place. My task was to create a flow for adding many different types of accounts as simple and effortless as possible.

ANIMATION PROTOYPES

Animations aid understanding

I also created a prototype to demonstrate the desired animation for messaging after an account is added.

DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS

Handing off around the world

Below are some of the detailed specs I created for our third-party development team, located in Australia. While I communicated with them via email every day, we had almost opposite schedules. I made sure my specifications were as clear as possible, so that the team had what they needed when I was sleeping wasn't available. ๐Ÿ˜ด
